Jones’ video takes top honors
Assistant videographer and sound producer, Josh Jones, son of Locust residents Gwen and Steve Jones, had a video take top honors in an international awards program. Jones is a graduate of the N.C. School of the Arts. The promotional video for Healing Seekers, a web and TV documentary series devoted to the exploration of the health and healing traditions around the globe, took top honors in the Telly Awards, a program for film and video.
The Telly award-winning video spotlighted a recent trek to Madascar where Malagasy healers with an intimate knowledge of the healing power of local plants were interviewed.
This year’s Telly Award drew more than 13,000 entries. Winners include companies, agencies, and organizations of all sizes, from small ad agencies and local video producers to large organizations with well-recognized brand names including the Golf Channel, NASA, National Geographic, PBS, ESPN, and Pepsi among others. The Healing Seekers video competed in the film and video category for nonprofits.
Art of Well Being - Integrative Medicine - Setting the Standard for a New and Better Pharmacy
Integrative Medicine - Setting the Standard For A New and Better Pharmacy

While exploring in the Galapagos Islands, I spent some time at the Charles Darwin Observatory. I have always been fascinated with this "survival of the fittest" environment with its simplicity and the peace, harmony and balance that exist so naturally. Perhaps my intrigue could be summarized by the powerful words of Charles Darwin himself (1835): "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change." For isn't this the same wisdom that has been spoken by many enlightened souls throughout the time of man? And isn't this responsiveness to change what we are witnessing now with health and healing? There has been, and continues to be, a dramatic shift as we explore, experiment, and incorporate a wide variety of healing practices. And although survival is one outcome of such measures, perhaps even more powerful may be the heightened quality of life.

I am constantly amazed at the interconnectedness of all life; the vital roles that plants, animals, and indigenous cultures have in the world of medicine and healing; and the incredible value of tribal/cultural wisdom and knowledge. Recently, I witnessed this yet again as I trekked to the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador. Even though this was my eighth trip to a rainforest, it was perhaps the one with the most awakening. The Amazon is always spectacular, opening not only my eyes, my mind, and my heart, but also encouraging this reconnection with all of life . . . and life itself.

Healing Seekers in Madagascar
By Amy Greeson, RPh.
Our Healing Seeker's team just returned home from a trip exploring, discovering, and attempting to understand the many methods of healing in Madagascar. We worked for three weeks filming the second of our documentary series. We trekked all over this tiny island, which is located off the southeast coast of Africa. Because of the isolation of the villages within this country, many hours were spent traveling ... by plane, foot, boat, off-road vehicle, and even by carts pulled by zebu. From this beautiful land and its people, we learned priceless information and invaluable lessons. We will continue our research with several of the plants that we discovered, which are so worthy of further exploration. As I reflect, a significant lesson, that became a recurrent theme for me, involved my deeper appreciation of the value and the 'power of one.'
